Hey Arizona: End of the day travel musings

I'm sitting here in a hotel room in Phoenix, Arizona. The heat of this July day absolutely has not worn off and I find myself believing that Arizona is closer to the sun than any other location on this earth. It simply has to be?! Good gracious almighty, it hit 109 today. And I felt myself constantly looking nervously at the front of my car which was speeding along the freeway; wondering at what point exactly it would decide to spontaneously combust before my eyes. Spoiler alert... it didn't. A true miracle if you ask me!

I passed a fancy sign that said "West World" today on the drive. I called my husband asking him to look it up because it had to be super cool right? (I was thinking of the TV show or movie) Turns out there are massive Western shows there like rodeos and such. I went to a Rodeo once as a kid, with some dear friends of mine. I remember sitting there on those hard plastic blue seats, the crowd a blur of cowboy hats and plaid. The putrid smell of manure and hay permeated every fiber it could grasp onto. I remember sitting there and thinking "I know I've been this bored before...but I simply cannot remember when."

That's all for tonight.

xoxo
